About SMALLADAPT
What exactly does SMALLADAPT do?
It adapts an image to the exact size and aspect ratio required by each social network and each format within it — post, story, cover, banner, profile photo — without you having to memorize pixel dimensions.
Is it free?
Yes, all current features are free and do not require creating an account.
Do I need to sign up to use it?
No. Open the site, upload your image, and download the result — no account, email, or password.
Can I use the images I generate for commercial purposes?
Yes. The resulting image is yours, just like the original — SMALLADAPT only changes size and framing and does not claim any rights over the output.
Privacy and data
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. All processing — cropping, zoom, watermark, export — happens in your own browser. The file never leaves your device.
Do you keep a copy of my images anywhere?
We do not store any image you process. As soon as you close or reload the tab, it disappears from browser memory.
Is it safe to use with client images or internal company material?
Yes — that is exactly why processing is local: nothing is sent to an external server, which makes it suitable for NDA creatives or material that cannot leave your machine.
Formats, platforms, and downloads
Which platforms are included?
Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X, with the full catalog of common formats for each: posts, stories, covers, banners, profiles, and thumbnails.
Can I start with the network already selected?
Yes. From the home page or size guides you enter with the network preselected and, after uploading your image, go straight to choosing the format.
Which file format do I download, JPG or PNG?
You can choose either before downloading. JPG for photos; PNG if you need transparency or the file has text and hard edges.
Can I add my logo or a watermark?
Yes. Upload your logo as PNG, pick the corner, and adjust its size and opacity before downloading.
Can I download several sizes for the same network at once?
Yes. After generating the first format, you can select the rest of that network's sizes and download them together in a ZIP.
Is there a file size or image count limit?
We do not set a fixed limit — the real constraint is your browser's memory, which you are unlikely to hit with normal photos.
Can I set a pixel size that is not in the platform list?
Yes. In the platform step there is a custom size option where you enter the exact width and height you need, up to 8000 px.
Editing and adjustments
What is the difference between fill, fit, and background?
Fill crops the image to cover the entire format. Fit fits the whole photo inside without cropping. Background works like fit but fills empty margins with a solid color you choose.
Can I swap the image without starting over?
Yes. On the adjust step, click the preview to replace the photo with another one. Your framing, logo, and color overlay stay — only the background image changes.
Can I add a brand color overlay on top of the photo?
Yes. Turn on Color overlay on the adjust step, pick your brand tone, then set opacity and blend mode (multiply, overlay, screen, and more) before downloading.
Can I drag the logo to place it anywhere?
Yes. Besides preset corners, you can drag the logo freely on the preview. You can also adjust its size, opacity, and blend mode with the photo.
Grid and carousel
What is the grid and carousel tool?
It splits a single image into several pieces — a grid for an Instagram profile or multiple slides for a carousel — that, uploaded in order, form the full image again.
In what order do I upload the ZIP pieces?
The ZIP names each piece with a number (01, 02, 03...) in reading order — left to right and top to bottom for a grid, or start to end for a carousel. Upload the files in that same order.
What grid sizes and carousel slide counts are supported?
Grid is always 3 columns, from 1 to 6 rows. Carousel from 2 to 10 slides, in square or vertical 4:5 format.
Can I choose which part of the image appears in each piece?
Yes. Before splitting, you can zoom and drag the image to decide exactly what shows in each piece, just like elsewhere in SMALLADAPT.
Compatibility
Does it work on mobile?
Yes, it works just as well on mobile as on desktop — on mobile you can drag and pinch to reposition; on desktop, with the mouse and zoom wheel.
Which browsers are supported?
Any modern browser: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge, on mobile and desktop.
Do I need to install anything?
No. SMALLADAPT runs directly in the browser, with no app or extension to download.
Support and next steps
I found a problem or an image does not look right. How do I report it?
Write to us from the contact page explaining what happened — the more details (network, format, file type), the faster we can review it.
Will you add more tools or features?
Yes, we keep expanding SMALLADAPT with new features and formats. New tools are announced first on the home page, so check back from time to time.
I also use SmallImg — are they related?
Yes. SmallImg compresses, converts, and optimizes image file weight; SMALLADAPT crops and adapts them to each network's exact size. Many people use both in the same workflow.
Didn't find what you were looking for? Write to us and we will reply — and if it is something that could help others, it will probably end up here. We are also expanding the available tools, so if this does not solve what you need today, we may already cover it tomorrow.
